MY

STORY

My name is Priscilla Matthews and I am in my fourth year of the Medical Sciences program at Western University. Specifically, I am in the Interdisciplinary Medical Sciences module. I have created this website as a part of my Medical Sciences 4300F course, which I have thoroughly and whole-heartedly enjoyed being a part of.

This course has allowed me to use my scientific inquiry skills to analyze and reflect on the role of scientists within healthcare and to investigate widespread health issues such as poverty, mental illness, drug addiction and infertility. I have also had the opportunity to participate in a community-engaged learning (CEL) project that has allowed me to further understand the various physical and social determinants of health, ethical competencies and social responsibility. Not only have I been able to learn about the existing healthcare problems that are present in London, but this course has also enabled me to grow personally; I have been able to refine my discussion, communication and analytical skills which I can use not only as a current student, but as a future healthcare professional. I hope to use this website as a medium to broadcast my learning and the status of the projects I have undertaken during my time in this course. Enjoy!
